Agility Films was approached by Simon Davis, owner of Luminary Fine Jewellery.
Luminary Fine Jewellery is a prestigious jewellery maison with over 20 years of experience in the world of gems, fine stones, and luxury watches. Renowned for their unparalleled knowledge and service, Luminary epitomises luxury, offering clients an unprecedented level of attention and expertise.
The founder of Luminary Fine Jewellery, Simon Davis, wanted to create a promotional film that would not only showcase the exquisite craftsmanship and luxury of their products but also tell the deeply personal story of his family's multi-generational journey in the jewellery industry. This film needed to resonate emotionally with viewers, highlighting the heritage, passion, and dedication that underpin Luminary's success.
The Brief

To produce a compelling and heartfelt video campaign that would:
- Highlight the personal story and legacy of Simon Davis and his family.
- Showcase the meticulous craftsmanship and luxury of Luminary Fine Jewellery.
- Connect emotionally with both existing clients and potential new customers.
- Enhance Luminary’s brand image and solidify its position as a leader in the luxury jewellery market.
The Film
Agility Films was entrusted with the task of creating this promotional film. Our approach was to develop a narrative that intertwines Simon Davis’s personal story with the artistry and elegance of Luminary Fine Jewellery.
Here’s how we achieved it:
1. Story Development:
- Conducted in-depth interviews with Simon Davis to understand his personal journey, family heritage, and passion for jewellery.
- Crafted a script that seamlessly blended his narrative with the visual storytelling of the jewellery-making process.
2. Visual and Emotional Storytelling:
- Employed an actor and sourced specialist jewellers’ equipment, centred around an old jeweller’s desk, scales, and tools to create an authentic atmosphere.
- Used a dark room studio setting with soft lighting focused on the subject matter, creating an ethereal, classical cinematic look.
- Ensured the scene shots were rich and luxurious, reflective of the brand’s quality and providing historical context.
3. Technical Execution:
- Conducted the interview with two cameras: a B-cam on a slow-moving automatic slider with jewellery scales out of focus in the foreground.
- Utilised a macro camera on a turntable for rotating close-ups of the jewellery pieces, capturing every intricate detail of the beautifully-made pieces.
4. Personal Touch:
- Featured Simon Davis as the central figure, sharing anecdotes and insights about his family’s history in the jewellery business.
5. Music and Sound Design:
- Selected a classical music score that complemented the visual elegance and emotional tone of the film.
- Employed sound design to enhance the sensory experience, making viewers feel immersed in the world of Luminary Fine Jewellery.
