Healing Through Horses at Viewpoint Centre

A film exploring the power of equine therapy and human connection, when talking doesn't work.

VIEWPOINT V2

The Client

Based in Surrey, Viewpoint Centre CIO is a charity dedicated to helping people who struggle to engage with traditional talking therapies. The organisation delivers horse-based therapeutic interventions, enabling participants to connect through experience rather than words.

Viewpoint’s approach focuses on non-verbal, trauma-informed practice, providing a safe, supportive environment where horses become partners in emotional healing. Led by founder Katie Dockery, the centre’s work has been recognised for its transformative impact on both mental health and personal development.

About the Film

Agility Films partnered with Viewpoint Centre to create a promotional documentary that captures the essence of equine therapy – the quiet, profound moments of trust and communication between people and horses.

Through cinematic storytelling and intimate interviews, the film highlights the Centre’s work and the real lives of Lottie and her family, which it has helped to transform. This is the same location where Agility Films previously shot The Healer, making this project a natural continuation of our exploration into the power of equine-assisted therapy.

Synopsis

The film follows Lottie and her parents who have benefitted from their time at Viewpoint, sharing their stories of growth, self-discovery, and emotional recovery.

Interwoven with these testimonials is an interview with Katie Dockery, who explains why equine therapy is so effective – offering insight into the emotion, and empathy behind the method.

From moments of stillness in the arena to breakthroughs during hands-on sessions, the documentary captures how nonverbal communication with horses can open pathways to healing and self discovery that words alone cannot.

The Brief

Objective

The aim was to create a visually rich and emotionally authentic film that:

  • Raises awareness of the Centre’s unique therapeutic work
  • Inspires trust and engagement from potential clients, supporters, and referrers
  • Showcases equine therapy in action, with genuine stories and real participants
  • Provides the charity with high-quality visual content for outreach, fundraising, and digital campaigns

The Film

Filmed on location at the Viewpoint Centre in Surrey, the documentary blends intimate interviews, atmospheric visuals, and fly-on-the-wall observation to immerse the viewer in the therapy experience.

The natural light and calm, rural setting were used to mirror the stillness and safety that Viewpoint fosters. Horses are filmed as active participants – mirrors to human emotion – reinforcing the idea that healing often begins in silence and connection.

Katie Dockery provides insight, grounding the film in professional expertise while allowing the participants’ voices and experiences to lead the story.

Digital Marketing

The film will serve as a key visual asset for Viewpoint Centre’s website and digital communications, used to:

  • Introduce new audiences to the Centre’s mission and work
  • Support fundraising campaigns and grant applications
  • Educate referrers and healthcare professionals about equine therapy’s effectiveness
  • Be shared in shorter cuts across social media platforms and training events

Conclusion

This collaboration between Viewpoint Centre and Agility Films brings the Centre’s philosophy to life on screen – showing how horses help people rediscover confidence, connection, and calm.

By blending real stories with cinematic storytelling, the film captures the heart of Viewpoint’s mission: that healing doesn’t always begin with words.

Agility Films is proud to support organisations like Viewpoint that use innovative, compassionate approaches to mental health and personal growth – telling stories that inspire understanding and change.
