Trusted with Purpose: Agility Films Partners with the Peter O’Sullevan Charitable Trust to Tell HorseBack UK’s Story

At Agility Films, we believe in the power of film to tell stories that matter, stories of resilience, recovery, and real-world impact. That’s why we’re incredibly honoured to be supported by the Peter O’Sullevan Charitable Trust in our latest documentary project, which shines a light on the extraordinary work of HorseBack UK.

Who is the Peter O’Sullevan Charitable Trust?

Founded by the legendary “Voice of Racing,” Sir Peter O’Sullevan, the Trust carries forward his lifelong dedication to the welfare of both horses and people. The charity supports organisations that promote equine welfare, rehabilitation, and education, funding a diverse range of initiatives, from sanctuary work and equine therapy to research and training.

Being selected as a production partner by the Trust is more than a grant, it’s a mark of belief in our storytelling and our shared values. We are deeply grateful for their support.

The Story We’re Telling

Our documentary focuses on HorseBack UK, a remarkable charity based in Aboyne, Scotland that uses horsemanship to help veterans, emergency service personnel, and young people rebuild confidence and find renewed purpose after trauma.

This project took us on a two-part journey to capture the breadth of their impact:

  • First, we filmed young people who are currently out of work and education, participating in a 12-week programme run in partnership with The Prince’s (now King’s) Trust. We documented them as they prepared for their final presentations to friends and family, and joined them on a meaningful activity day cleaning Commonwealth war graves – an experience that not only honoured the past but also helped them give back to the community.
  • Then, we spent time on-site during a residential course with military personnel, many of whom are living with PTSD. Immersed in learning horsemanship and building trust with these powerful animals, they were also working to rebuild their own confidence and resilience. It was moving to witness first hand how Horse Back UK’s approach helps veterans open up, reconnect, and start to heal.

A Shared Mission of Healing

The alignment between the Trust’s values, HorseBack UK’s mission, and our own passion for social impact storytelling makes this project feel especially meaningful.

At Agility Films, we’ve recently explored similar themes of recovery and hope in our short film The Healer, which also touches on equine-assisted therapy. While each project stands on its own, they’re linked by a common belief: that stories can heal, inspire, and drive real change.
